Adoption Assistance

Many families find the cost of adoption daunting. Hand In Hand endeavors to ease the financial strain as much as possible by spreading the fees out over the course of the adoption. The Federal Adoption Tax Credit is a huge help, and many employers offer adoption assistance to their employees.  However, some families may not be aware of the organizations that offer grants and loans specifically for adoption.

Here are some organizations that are trying to ease the financial aspect of adoption:

Abba Fund

Affording Adoption

Gift of Adoption

HelpUsAdopt.org

LifeSong For Orphans

National Adoption Foundation

Resources 4 Adoption

Show Hope

The Sparrow Fund

Hand in Hand is not affiliated with these organizations, so please do your due diligence when considering whether they are a possible help to your adoption journey.

  1. During an adoption journey that took 4 years and included several international flights, we applied for 18 grants and were awarded none. Outside of family and friends, the only organization that provided financial assistance for our adoption was ABBA Fund (www.abbafund.org). With an interest free loan from ABBA Fund we were able to finally bring our daughter home.

  2. We will add Abba Fund to the list. Do remember that these organizations receive large numbers of grant applications, so it is worth trying a number of them if it appears that your situation will meet the requirements.
