Waiting Child Spotlight! Philippines Girl DLS912

Today's Waiting Child Spotlight is on a beautiful, curly-haired toddler girl waiting in the Philippines. She was born March 30, 2009, making her three years old now.  We cannot post her photo because of country rules, but she is as cute as a button!

This cutie has global developmental delay from suspected mild cerebral palsy, and speech delay because of profound hearing loss. She is walking independently, and her cute referral picture is of her toddling around.  It has been recommended that she have occupational therapy to develop her motor skills and help with her mild hypertonia (high muscle tone) in her lower legs.  It has also been recommended that she be fitted with hearing aids as soon as possible to aid her language development.  This little girl has displayed some delays and behavioral mannerisms that result from institutionalization in the near-total silence resulting from her hearing impairment.  She very much needs a family immediately who can provide the hearing aids, interaction and therapies that she needs, so she can continue to progress.
